Costume

These are the exact masks i have purchased for my video. In themselves without the actors and costume, these props do not look threatening at all. However combined with actors wearing suits (which is a formal type of clothing not normally worn on a everyday basis) and at night will demonstrate something much more unusual and frightening. These are the main props i am going to be using to demonstrate the characters paranoia from the usage of drugs. Animals like these are all very innocent, we do not see them very often and when we do they give off that "aww" impression. In this video the emotions will be turned as we will see them as a threat. They are only masks- to hide a identity- the identity of these actors roaming around being unwanted encounters of a unsober character. These masks connote threat and hidden mystery. They represent my genre in a subverted way and give the audience a alternate reading.

This is one of the masks i shall be using in my video in the second half of my video. This pig mask fits into my genre being horror because it isn't a pleasant mask to look at and is quite scary. This mask will hide the identity of a person and put forth the idea of not knowing who or what someone is which is genuinely used in horror related videos. It will represent the horror of the music video and the character wearing it being mysterious with a non-human like form. The mask will fit into the audiences expectations of the video because the mask is very unpleasant. The person wearing the mask will not speak, it will just have the characteristics of a normal person. Except with a mask on. The particular scene in which this mask is used in will be a scene in an area where there will be a street lamp and a man walking down the road. The man is wearing a mask but staring at you (first person perspective). The other masks are different ones used in my video a-swell, only the pig mask is much more bigger and scarier. The woodland animal masks and the farm animal masks will all be used in the second half of my video also. This contradicts the meaning of horror as they are children's masks and they are not associated with horror however with the type of genre and the costume and music they will be represented as being scary. This will also represent horror and drug related horror outcomes such as bad trips and hallucinations as the masks seen by first person perspective will be understood to be the outcome of doing drugs and drinking. This will fit into my target audience because it is very sinister idea of having something which is seen to be so innocent twisted into something which is not very nice at all.

This is the type of uniform the males will be wearing. It will represent the class and formality of the characters. However when they are wearing the suits and formal clothing it is also when they are wearing the masks which will completely change the view of the characters and it will transform it into a very obscure vision. This will link into my genre and the representation will be shown through the suits because they are a very intimidating piece of clothing and are represented to be smart when actually worn without a actual face and somewhat resemblance of a woodland or farm animal are seen as quite frightening.

Chosen Song

This is the music video which is going to go with my music video. The introduction is going to be difficult to do but it will start off very slow and then when the drums come in and the voices its still going to be a very spaced out video, there will be lighting and people and camera effects, however when the drop hits the camera will fade back into the world under a lamppost outside in which 5 characters will be around him wearing animal masks chanting to the beat of the music. After that point every person the main character comes into contact with is wearing some sort of animal mask. The song gets slower towards the end- in which i will use a slow mo camera effect and then when the song comes to a hault everything will fade out and become too blurry too see before blacking out.

Research

The Prodigy- Smack my bitch up

The promotional music video for "Smack My Bitch Up", directed by Jonas Ã…kerlund depicts a night out in the city filmed from a first-person perspective, portraying drinking and driving, snorting cocaine, violence, vomiting, vandalism, nudity and sex. The unedited version also includes a scene of heroin use, a hit and run incident, fights with men, abuse of women, and a full sex scene. The protagonist takes a stripper (played by model Teresa May) home and has sex with her. As the stripper leaves with her things, the protagonist glances in the mirror, is revealed to be a woman, and collapses on the bed.
This video is a conversational video therefore making it unsuitable for 13- to watch. The age range target audience are roughly mid/late teens/ early twenties. However just because this video is suitable for that age range does not stop the younger years from watching it. This will be similar to my video however because my video will be available for the younger years I shall have to take into consideration how inappropriate it will be. I will have to make a point at the end of the video so it doesn't advertise the usage of drugs and alcohol, and make sure it is not glamorise through the video.
The prodigy are a electronic dance music group therefore the genre of music being along electronic dance. The genre of song goes well with the music video because electronic dance music at gigs is typically the type of music the target audience would want to listen to on drugs. This video includes drug taking and excessive drinking. Aswell as sex, puking and violence. All on a video about someone's night out from their own eyes. Dance music is what you hear in clubs, hence why the video compilments the song so much. There has been a fisheye camera used throughout the video to give more of a sense of sight from someone, especially someone who has been influenced by alcohol and drugs.
The audience from this video would be a mass media production because it was in the charts on television. The audience would be obviously those who are fans of The Prodigy- so young adults/ adults. This is a very adult video and many adults can probably relate to it, however what makes this video so interesting is the very simple idea of showing what someone can experience on a night out- and we keep watching because it is so vulgar and we like the song.

A large quantity of the video has alot of red in it. This can show the discolouration or how colour has been enhanced when under the influence of drugs. Red connotes in this video lust. Because we see erotic clubs and naked strippers. We see the persons hands touching females without permission and  getting pushed away- which a normal accurance in a city at nighttime. Lust is a very big part of this video- but the expectations are twisted as we find out in the ending it is actually a girl when all the time we expect it is a boy.

The whole video is from vision of someone- so we see them do everything- this gives more of a relationship with the audience and the video as we imagine what it would be like to be in their shoes. Also the whole camera effect is done with fish eye so everything in the middle is enhanced and it gives more of a effect of not being sober.

Halfway through the video effects on the camera are more frequent as everything becomes more distorted and swirly to give the impression of being "trashed" as they are unable to stand, walk and see.

There is more occurrences of close up of boobs and female parts as this continuation of lust keeps on going through the video. The close up of boobs not only shows how this is what the person wants it also gives a impression that it is understandable to be more lustful and forward when you are drunk.

This is another clever camera effect as you see your hand like 5 times. Camera effects like this i want to use in my video to give a bigger and more understandable approach on people when they have been drinking and what you actually see.

The ending clip stands strong as the door is closed and the ending of the night has come. The whole point of why the person went out in the first place has been made and therefore it is another night alone without anything but sex. The closed door at the end of the hallway with a little light on shows how the person is now alone and the door is closed- the night has closed/come to an end.

This video was universally banned from television, however massive demands on MTV eventually has them relent and show the video, but only after midnight and following an MTV news warning.
My video will be of similar genre, therefore the audience will be those who stay up late and who are old enough to understand it, but also those who are more darker in the sense of weird things happening, not everything in my video will be so strait forward, and the lustful atmosphere wont be in my video either. It will be a much more strange video- this makes my target audience in there late teens/ early twentys because not everyone older takes fascination in weird creepy things like that. My target audience will probably be niche because of the choice of track promoted. It is a remixed song therefore many people ma be unfamiliar with it.

Change of Plan

I have decided to change my plan to doing a music video rather than doing a short film. I feel like music can greatly influence my creativity and imagination to do a video that goes with the song.
My genre will stay the same- only combined with abit of drama.
